Snoring Solution! Stop Snoring Now! 11 Tips For Better Sleep!

By Michael Porteous

Snoring is a widespread problem that can range from merely annoying to quite dangerous to peoples health. The snorer can be at risk as the snoring interferes with the oxygen flow to the brain and often causes them to wake many times during the night disturbing their rest and making them less functional during the day. The other people in the household often suffer more as they cannot sleep with noises that can reach extremely high decibel levels; this also affects their daytime performance as lack of sleep kicks in.

Missing sleep is a major health risk and has been linked to problems with weight, mood swings, depression and heart disease. While people who do not have problems with snoring may think it is a minor condition those who suffer it know better.
So how does one stop snoring? There are many home remedies and old wives tales related to snoring and many of them are quite right. Most of them are band-aid solutions however and while they might reduce the severeness of snoring they may not eliminate it completely.
Here is a sample collection of tips and advice to help you get a good night sleep.

---
1. Get a few extra pillows and prop yourself up in bed. Laying flat on your back causes a lot of snoring problems as your air passages get obstructed. Propping yourself up will open up the airway allowing free flow of air.
2. Raise the head of the bed. Use some old wooden boards or bricks or a phone book perhaps. This is similar to the first point but is a bit more permanent as you can roll off the pillows.
3. Stop sleeping on your back and start sleeping on your side. It is hard to stay in that position sometimes but hugging a pillow and putting another one behind your back to prevent you rolling back over. Again this is to stop your airway's being blocked.

4. Do not eat a large meal or drink alcohol within about 3 hours of going to bed. Both cause your throat muscles to relax somewhat again adding to the air passage blockage.
5. On the subject of allergies, you may need to change your bed sheets often and vacuum your floor and curtains more often too. This can remove many allergens in the air which aggravate snoring.
6. Get some nasal strips from a pharmacy. They tape onto your nose and open up the nasal passage allowing more free flow of air. Not very stylish but hey ... who is watching!
7. You can shrink the lining of your nose and throat by gargling with peppermint mouthwash. This is very useful especially if your snoring is caused by allergies which inflame the lining.

8. If you are a smoker this may be your chance to quit, smoking can irritate and swell the throat narrowing the air passage; smokers also have problems with nasal congestion.
9. If you have nasal congestion try taking a decongestant or antihistamine before you go to bed. Obviously this is just a temporary measure and any medication taken should be taken with caution and the right dosage.

10. Try drinking nettle tea. Herbalists recommend it for soothing the inflammation caused by pollen allergies. To make the tea:- Pour a cup of boiling water over 1 tablespoon of dried leaf.- Cover the tea and let it steep for 5 minutes.- Strain and drink.- Drink up to 3 cups a day, 1 cup just before your bedtime.
11. Lose Weight! Weight loss can reduce your snoring by easing any constriction of the upper airway. In fact losing weight has been proven to solve many cases of severe snoring!

---
Some of this advice is well known and others are good healthy living anyway! Eating and living right also help your sleep patterns and will help you and others sleep better in the long run. If these ideas still do not stop your snoring there are more drastic measures such as surgery which can be a hit and miss affair and like all surgery can be dangerous no matter how small the procedure. The condition sleep apnea can also be a cause of snoring and is a serious health risk as well.

Good luck and I hope you have a good nights sleep!

Snoring Toddlers

By Shareen Aguilar

Little do people know that snoring is caused not by only by one or two health factors. There are other factors which trigger smoking and even these other causes don't simply mean that a person is overweight or physically unhealthy. Nasal passage congestion is one major reason why a person snores and that alone, can be traced to several other health problems.

Even then, snoring is a widespread sleep disorder for so many adults. Yet, young children also faces this sleep problem. Even toddlers also experiences snoring during the early stages of their lives. But for toddlers, snoring can be considered quite differently compared to adults who really need serious treatment. Snoring for kids is a not a condition to which parents should be alarmed because this only happens when kids experiences occasional colds and allergies.

When your child has a cold, the tendency of the glands called adenoids which is located right behind the nose tend to expand or enlarge and this enlargement blocks the air that needs to go in and out of the nose. This also causes for your child to experience difficulty when breathing. But nothing to be alarmed about, after the cold or allergy subsides, snoring while your toddler sleeps is going to go away.

However, it is possible that a snoring recurrence can happen. If snoring is still frequent while your child sleeps (this is a situation after an allergy or cold is long gone); then it is best to see a medical expert and seek for advice. Have the throat, nose and ears checked by a medical expert as well to make sure that the snoring problem isn't starting from any of the said area. It's also a good idea to let your doctor know about this because it can be a case of sleep apnea. When left untreated, sleep apnea can become life threatening eventually. As a parent, it is important to take healthy precautionary measures while you still can.

7 Quick Ways to Stop Snoring

By Jack Rendquist
It's been blamed for everything from sleepless nights to broken marriages to a host of physical miseries. For one thing, snoring tends to detract from a good night's sleep for both the sufferer and anyone in earshot. Plus, it reduces the amount of oxygen the snorer inhales. But most seriously, it can cause a condition known as sleep apnea in which the airways collapse and obstruct breathing. This can be fatal. Clearly the snorer needs to look for a solution. Here are 7 quick fixes

Allergic reactions can cause snoring for the first thing to do is to check for allergies. These can be caused by everything from pollen to cats to dust mites in your mattress. Removing the allergens or taking antihistamines can help your snoring.
Another factor is the humidity of your bedroom. Dry air can cause or increase snoring so using a humidifier can make a big difference.

As sleeping on your back promotes snoring, there are a number of devices that work to force you to sleep on your side. One example is a sleep position monitor which emits a beep when you turn onto your back. Technophobes can use a tennis ball in a sock attached to the back of your pajamas or you could invest in a Sandler pillow.
Nasal strips are another option. Placed over the top of the nose, they help to widen your airways and reduce any obstruction. A nasal dilator has the same effect.

Then you could look into some alternative approaches. Some people swear by hypnosis, others use yoga or Tai Chi or a massage before bed. The idea is that the resulting relaxation prevents snoring. Try what attracts you and see if it works.
Some long-suffering snorers, however, turn to surgery in desperation. A number of surgical procedures can work to alleviate snoring but they should be seen as the choice of last resort.

But before you sign up for surgery, you should take a look at exercises that stop snoring. Snoring is caused by flabby muscles in the oral and nasal cavities so toning them up works wonders. These exercises are easy and safe to do and can often produce results very quickly. Here's an example. Try to touch your nose with your tongue. You don't actually have to touch it, but the action will strengthen your tongue muscles. These are some of the muscles that can cause snoring if they're weak.

Ultimately, the way to a lasting, natural cure for snoring lies with exercise. Find yourself a good program and start working out.

The Stop Snoring Exercise Program offers a complete range of exercises that safely and effectively stop snoring, no matter how long you've been a chronic snorer. For a review of this amazing program, please visit: http://stop-snoring-exercise-program.blogspot.com

Air Purifier and Cleaners Provide Snoring Relief

By Tom Turner

How many of us have been awakened out of a dead sleep to the loud sounds of snoring? Research shows that 4 out of 10 men and 3 out of 10 women suffer from the condition known as snoring. With those statistics, it is pretty safe to say that most homes inhabit someone with this problem. Many factors can cause snoring, but this article will focus on the benefits of having an air purifier and cleaners in your home and how they can help relieve the attacks of snoring.

Snoring is caused from a restriction in the breathing passages. While we are awake, the body keeps airways open, but while we sleep, the throat becomes relaxed; therefore causing airflow to become restricted. The use of an air purifier and cleaners can help, because they filter out particles in the air that can cause colds and allergies. If someone is already a victim of snoring, the added problem of a cold or allergy can be devastating; especially to the spouse or loved one who is kept awake from the peaceful sleep they so desire.

Did you know that long term snoring can cause high blood pressure? I'm sure most people are just annoyed at the fact that they are being kept awake; not the fact that someone's health is at risk. Owning an air purifier and cleaners can help reduce or eliminate the cause for snoring if the person who suffers, has allergies or a cold. An air purifier or cleaners can filter out the germs and viruses that cause colds, and it can also eliminate dust and pollens that bring on allergies. A cold or allergies will cause the air ways to be obstructed and can be a major source for snoring.

There are many benefits to owning an air purifier and cleaners, and many different models to choose from. You may want to find one that has a humidifier on it too, so you can add some menthol or eucalyptus in the air. This will make breathing easier; especially at night. It will help keep airways open; thus reducing the need to snore.
Now that you are aware of the dangers of snoring, don't you think an air purifier and cleaners are a must?

Natural Help With Snoring Problems

By Jonathan G Higgins

The best help with snoring problems is that which gets at the root of the problem. That's not to say the prescriptive solutions don't have their place. prescriptive remedies do play an important role in helping you cure snoring, but they are temporary and not to be the reason for overlooking preventative snoring remedies that can actually cure snoring forever.

Preventative Help With Snoring Problems
The help with snoring problems that fall in the preventative category cure your snoring as opposed to hiding it or compensating for it. Your long term plan for curing snoring should involve these strategies. There are likely three reasons why you snore. Find out which of these reasons apply to you and then treat it in order to get rid of snoring permanently. Those three reasons are:
*Weight
*Allergies
*soft palate tissue

Lose Weight To Stop Snoring
If you are overweight, it is very likely that this is the very cause of your snoring. The best help with this snoring problem is simply to lose some weight. Sometimes losing only ten pounds is often enough to stop or greatly reduce your snoring. If losing this weight doesn't help, then try losing another ten pounds. Keep losing weight in increments of ten pounds until the snoring stops. You can also use the next remedy to help further. All other kinds of help with snoring problems pale in comparison to the effectiveness of this solution.

Controlling Allergies Can Help With Snoring Problems
The cause of your snoring could be due to congestion resulting from allergies. One of the best things you can do if you have serious allergies is to cut sugar out of your diet. This includes all fruit juice. Even though 100% natural orange is all natural, the natural sugars in it still feed your allergies and make them worse. If you want to enjoy fruit to be healthy, then eat it. The concentration of sugar is a lot lower.

In addition, if you have sever allergies then make sure you have allergy-proofed your house. Don't get lazy about this.

Strengthening Throat Tissue To Stop Snoring
Finally, the cause of your snoring could be due to flabby throat tissue. Just like any other flabby tissue or muscle on your body, if you exercise it, it will harden and become stiff. There are serious of throat exercises you can do to strengthen the tissue in your throat and the muscles in your neck and jaw that will stop snoring. Do these exercises daily to stop snoring.

Short Term Help With Snoring Problems
This kind of help with snoring problems only covers up the malady rather than treating it. I wouldn't suggest using any of these kinds of remedies exclusively because at the end of the day you will still be a snorer. However, they are very useful for stopping snoring right now if this is necessary. These remedies include:
*Chin Straps
*Mouth Pieces
*Snoring Sprays
*Pillows

The list goes on. None of these successfully help with snoring problems for everybody because no solution is one-size-fits-all. You will need to experiment with them to find out which one helps you.
The greatest help with snoring problems are the home remedies for snoring that get at the root of the problem and cure your snoring completely. The short term remedies are appropriate for short term use while you are implementing one of the preventative approaches.

Jonathan Higgins is an expert on snoring. He has developed a whole series on home remedies for snoring that he would be glad to share with you. Just send him an email at treatsnoring@aweber.com. Treat Snoring.

If you are one of the millions that suffer from snoring or one of the millions who sleep with someone who does snore than you are probably a very tired and frustrated person unless you have been lucky enough to find that miracle stop snoring device. Chances are you are not one of those people. You may or may not know all of the stop snoring products on the market that promise to stop the noise so you are everyone around you can get a good night sleep. Which one is the right one for you? Where do you start to even look? How do you know which one will work if any?

If you are the one who has been told you snore and you seem to wake up with a sore throat then you can try an herbal or nasal spray that keeps the tissues moist and may cut down on the vibrations and noise at night. There are nasal strips you can try that will hold your nasal passageways open by placing the strip across the bridge of your nose and could help. There are pillows that keep your head and neck aligned better that may help keep you in a better position that can help. There are surgeries that you could opt for depending on the severity of your condition.

When To See A Doctor
If you are exhausted and others in your home are exhausted from not sleeping then you may want to see and talk to your doctor about the options that are available. You may want to have your doctor recommend you to a sleep clinic that can monitor your sleeping habits and see if there may be another underlying medical condition such as sleep apnea, which can be serious. You may want to consider loosing some weight. Fatty tissues in the back of your throat can also contribute to snoring.

Surgery
After you have talked to your doctor and tried, different stop snoring devices to no avail you may want to consider having surgery. Basically surgeries are designed to remove excessive tissues to fix palette problems that are contributing to your snoring problems. Although surgery is not for everyone, you can talk to your doctor about the many options that are available. Be sure you check your options and be sure; there is nothing else you can do that is non-invasive before having a stop snoring surgery performed. You may have success using a less expensive method.
